My Computer (part 2.)

It was a good adventure, to build a machine again after 10 years or so...

Displays

In the previous chapter, I did not tell you anything about the displays. After reading a lot of tests, I did find a very good one: ASUS ProArt PA278QV. Also, the price wasn’t very bad, so I decided to buy this, but the size was too big for my desk, plus I wished to have a dual-monitor configuration. From this point of view — I mean, I have to pay twice — the price seemed not that good. The solution is PA248QV, which is a smaller, 24-inch version of this display. The resolution is a bit lower, 1920x1200 pixels, but the panel is the same IPS with LED backlight, and of course, it has the same certifications about color accuracy. As I built up my environment, I found another very nice feature: The display has a USB port multiplier. This means I can connect it to my computer with a cable that was given in the box, so I have two ports on the side, two on the bottom of the display.
Because I use them with a holder, I was able to hide the cables. I was also able to plug the webcam, and the Logitech receiver into the display, so I really don’t have messy cable things on my desk.

  • To be able to set up an ergonomic environment, I bought this holder: Alza ErgoArm ar2. — What to say? Low price, good quality: It’s okay.

Peripherals

  • I use a Logitech c925 webcam for the meetings with our partners. I’m okay with the model, all of my partners can hear me clearly and loudly, so no problem. After a couple of years of using built-in webcams, the picture is unbelievably light and clear and sharp, so I am amazed, how good look I am. :)
  • Before buying peripherals, my very first shopping was the Logitech MX Keys. I was reading a lot of articles about micro switch keyboards and checked a lot of tests… At least I found my old Logitech keyboard what was halfway in between the microswitch keyboards and the laptop keyboards and it wasn't OK to me. After a very big number of years, I was typing on laptop keyboards; I decided to buy a flat one. I like it so much now, so I am absolutely satisfied with it.
  • The mouse is the weakest link: Logitech M590. The reason is that this is still not cheap, but at least not that expensive like MX mouses are… I wanted to buy an MX Master 3, but the price of that. Even if the quality could be good enough, but no way… So, now I am using this, but I am not happy with it.

So… That’s all… After a couple of days of working on this machine, I like it, so worth it.
